| 03 / 06 / 05 | SWEET DREAMS ARE OUT OF CASH Visionary Dave crashed with reality After the Marquee Club, co-owned by Dave Stewart, run out of money eary this year, Artist Network/AN-Group, his radical different, artist friendly entertainment company, has also debts of 2.8m Pounds already. Expected have been a value of AN of 150m to 300m Pounds within 5 years. Some co-owners didn't pay what had been expected and other investments weren't made because of "ridiculous" delays by the "unprofessional" company (Independent). Dave Stewart says: "In the end we just weren't getting enough money in. It turned out to be very difficult to establish an independent record company. You just need so much money for marketing and so on - and we ran out of it." He tries to ensure that Artist Network artists will be looked after: "At the moment I'm making sure that the artists we have made records with will have their records released." The only so far release of AN, Jimmy Cliff's fabulous album "Fantastic Plastic People", might be its last and only one which would be a big loss after other AN artists, e.g. The Davey Brothers and Da Univerzal Playaz, recorded excellent, but still unreleased albums.
